I would be more than happy to go through psychiatric evaluation if it meant I could have access to pistols for target shooting. I'm perfectly sane and I can prove it... IMO this should be part of the certification process to include shotguns
I think we have enough hoops to jump through already.

Probably just as well we don't have pistols then. I can just see it now I want you to psychiatric evaluate me please because I want to own a GUN.

Sounds like you're scared you wouldn't pass the test!

Blimey, this thread is getting bleaker by the hour, we'll be suggesting to each other to manintain a "dignified silence" next. We should sieze the chance to put out some good publictiy about the shooting sports and not give in to fatalism.

I passed the test my toys included several .22 hand guns a couple of 357 revolvers a colt 45 several 9mm semi autos a colt 911 etc etc etc .
Its only when the Government stole them that I moved on to rifles.
I shot pistols competitively for years but if push came to shove and they re introduced .22 hand guns I would not be I any hurry to buy one.
I am having fun with what I have got I have adapted and moved on hand guns are no big deal to me.
I certainly am not that desperate to own one that I would say please psychiatric evaluate me I need a hand gun. Why would you.

What test? It has nothing to do with desperation, it's called [appeasement|concession|negotiating]. I didn't say it in the tone you suggest. As I remarked in my first post, I think it should be included in the current FAC application process. Mental illness is rife, probably on the rise and it's never talked about. I have nothing to hide, I'm sound of mind and I wouldn't become defensive if someone asked me probing questions to prove it.

HALODIN Do you mind if I ask you a question. How old are you. Were you involved in the confiscation of hand guns did you go through the process.
I jumped through the hoops and for years was a legitimate licenced hand gun owner and with in 24 hours I was a criminal threatened with Prision if I did not turn up at my local police hand in Station. I went and was treated with suspicion and looked on as some kind of freak or some one to watch in case at any minute I ran amok and started to shoot people and you want me to submit to a psychiatric evaluation to own a hand gun I don't think so.

In your opinion. You should run your views past other club members , and see what they think.

Not at all. No, I'm 41 and I've only been shooting 1 year.

I judge myself against everyone I meet.
