Yep, the sights have crossed my mind. Rude Fat Dog in Devon have a nice looking one with good looking sights listed on guntrader however...

I think this is a solid case of needing to set a firm budget and then going to see a reputable specialist (I'm thinking the devizes gunsmith as they're fairly local) to discuss the options.

I have to admit I would rather like an example of the rifle one of my ancestors carried in WWI (died of wounds suffered :cry: ) and as the rifle would be more "light" historical interest than an exercise in accuracy perhaps the rather nice BSA Commercial SMLE MkIII* devizes have in (or similar) would suit.

I fully appreciate what you're saying, nevertheless if you have a rifle you struggle to shoot as well as you'd like, you'll feel disappointed. .303's are ten a penny, you'll certainly find both SMLE's and No.4's at your club.
