interestingly it appears the usage of "head" is wider than I first thought, I added the ITL link as a light hearted jest but it seems they are not alone...

Yes, the page talks of bullet heads; it means bullets. Now it has been suitably admonished it must learn from its mistake and repent its sins :-)

Wow, this makes for... interesting reading.

Some have said that if you say "head" you're an unsafe shot and must be kept away from, as "bullet" is the correct term. So, what happens if a person, who using the "correct" term "bullet" loads 89grains into a cartridge and blows himself up?

Surely it's the skill of the shooter, not the terms he uses?

By the logic of some here, you are only a good and safe shooter if you use the "correct" terms. Well, who decided what was correct? I've heard people refer to the K98K Mauser rifle as a "rifle", see, I just did it myself, but the correct term is "carbine", as that's what it's called, a Karabinier 98 Kurts, or the other way around, not sure, but hell, does that mean that I should be beaten over the head with the aforementioned Mauser until I call it a carbine, as that is the correct term for it, as in using an incorrect term I'm an unsafe shot?

I've heard people on here called bullets "boolits", well, please point me to the Oxford Dictionary listing for "boolit". I personally call boolits "cast lead", but people know what I'm taking about when I say that.

Bullets, at least in my area and circle of friends have always been known as "heads", and the heads of cartridges as "bases", so by the wording of others on this thread, I'm unsafe to shoot alongside.

Come on, boys and girls. Why is this an argument? It's the skill and action of the individual, not the wording he uses.

To prove this point, henceforth, all of my bullets will now be referred to as... "hedgehogs"
