Re: Imperial - loss runner?
Maybe worth a read of http://www.nra.org.uk/common/asp/genera ... category=9
It is the Aims, Objectives and Strategies of the NRA.
Made for interesting reading this morning, might be worth the NRA staff reading it and acting on it.

Re: Imperial - loss runner?
The obvious answer is an amalgamation of the shooting bodies into a national organisation so that the total is greater than the sum of the parts, 2b in the strategic aims and objectives in the link above. Sport England put a substantial amount of money forward a couple of years ago to help put in capacity and expertise to make this happen. Nothing came of it I'm afraid and we have had no explanation from the shooting bodies as to why this work delivered nothing other than lining the pockets of few consultants.
The NRA were leading on this so the failure comes back to their door in the eyes of many at the centre, the lack of public explanation about what happened, how far the process went, why it failed and where the money went and how much was spent just leads to more speculation and accusation of vested interest.
I was told by someone from the NRA that the issue of what would happen to the land that Bisley sits on was an issue, if so then Bisley is a further bar to developing a national presence. But as I say in the absence of any accountability to the members of the organisations involved in this sorry tale it will just be another albatross round the NRA's neck.

The detail is never released just the devil of speculation and the cloak of failure.

And I repeat - I was going to answer but I HAVE BEEN ILL!!!!MiLisCer wrote: Sorry, but I was under the impression Karen worked for the NRA - if she does not then, hands up, my error.
BUT if I asked the same question to any BASC officer, representative or other (Now I know Karen has said she will be on the NRA stand at the Newark show) then I would have had to pull myself away from them as they really do go out of their way to sell their organisation.
My post was not meant to be demeaning of the NRA, it was a genuine question as to what I would gain - surely worthy of some reply?
It is worthy of a reply but I HAVE BEEN ILL!!!!!
I do work for the NRA and I am very happy to answer queries or impart information when I can but all I ask for is to be able to answer when I am better but I HAVE BEEN ILL!!!
And Iain will confirm - when I am ill I am useless! Feeling much better today but still not quite right yet - doctors appointment this morning and more tests to go.
I am NOT going to be on the Newark stand (although I would love to be) and I have never said I was as unfortunately there is a team training weekend for the GB Rifle Team that weekend. I think you are getting me mixed up with Heather

Re: Imperial - loss runner?
I do not know the answer either, however what I do know is that the NRA is the only organisation that has shown it's face on this forum and I do not think I am being bigheaded when I say that within shooting circles this forum counts, something BASC certainly do not seem to acknowledge.
Also I believe the insurance offered by the NRA beats anything else available out there and let's not forget we are talking about an old institution with old traditions, yes it is in big trouble right now but without people supporting it, it will cease to exist.
EDIT
Here is another thing, every time I contacted the NRA membership department, Nick and Heather were always prompt with a reply to my question. Really sorry to hear Nick is gone. Doesn't seem logical.
