I picked up an Allen Bradley PSU last year from eBlag to run my Unimat 3, it is about the size of a brick, rated at 7A 24vDC and should last forever, final speed control is by a small DC speed controller also from eBlag. I found someone who sells integrated PSU/Speed controls rated at 1A for about a tenner which would have given me a far more compact solution but as I had the PSU already I decided to use it. I may add the small standalone control at a later date.

Always good when something works out, this is the drive theory, it shows one of the 12 drive slots and the relationship of the constant drive and cam. It looks odd because it is modelled in Sketchup which I used because it is free
This is it in the flesh, the bolt picking up the GenevaX is a temporary affair to prove it really did work, I will machine a cam for it today. This system gives a constant drive rotation which is converted to stop start motion so the bolt is constantly rotating but the table itself only turns during the time the bolt is engaged with a slot.

Well that works so now I can machine the drive cam and then the locking lobe on the top to ensure the table will only move when the drive cam is engaged.

I turned the shoulders on the bearing blocks today and bored the centre of the tables so they are aligned with the blocks so in theory everything is in line and cannot move. I will make the legs and the drive shaft tomorrow, it is getting closer, just need some bearings and shoulder bolts now....

Oops, you've lost me. I thought you'd decided on the geneva drive in order to integrate a 2nd drive which would rotate the cases in situ. Thereby ensuring an even distribution of heat when under the torch?

I am but with two seperate motor/gearboxes, one for the rotating stationand one for the Geneva drive itself. I was going to use the constant (promary) drive for the Geneva to drive the rotating station but decided to use seperate drives in the end.

Time to get back on with the project, I am waiting for the bearings to arrive so mostly faffing around now, I turned the top legs this afternoon which was fun as I used a 4 jaw chuck, I am getting pretty slick at clocking in a 4 jaw now which is handy considering I had not used a 4 jaw until 4-5 days ago. Here itis how far it has got, nothing is bolted together at this stage and I still am unsure how to finish it other than not using hammerite....

Are you going to set it up to drop the annealed cases like the Ken Light machine?
