With the fore grip removed, showing the non standard barrel nut which will require special tools to remove before a after market fore end can be fitted.

Re: SGC 9mm Lever release - something black continued
I cannot see the way the nut is gripped, is it pegged or similar? Any chance of a close up picture?

Pictures of the lever release cam and the catch that stops the thing going semi auto,

Hows that?
The thumb lever moves the shiny part with the black O in it. That cam is slightly oval and moves the lever touching it by 1-2mm, enough to release the bolt.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools!!

Removing the barrel, the thing you need is called a peg spanner, assuming it is a standard size it should be well under a tenner. If it is silly money give me a shout and I can make one.
Re: SGC 9mm Lever release - something black continued
I am told that Bob uses a lot of Glue when putting these together so it may need more than just a spanner and some elbow grease. At the moment I do not have a vice and would be very hesitant about heating the thing up.
I had not realised how easy it was to change these barrels, it would be nice to get one longer than the 13.5" or get a fully moderated one - just for fun of course.
No doubt when I get a new fore end I will get sorted,

A heat gun will break the thread lock or whatever he uses. So I assume you just drop the locking nut off, unscrew the barrel, fit the new one and use the nut to set the headspace?
Re: SGC 9mm Lever release - something black continued
Apparently head space is not a issue...
Just do the new nut up tight and it will pull the barrel in to where it needs to be,
Sounds too easy to me but that is what I am told,
