I've also recently bought a Rossi 92 in 45colt. Apart from fitting a Palo Verde spring kit and a Skinner peephole rear sight, I'm keeping this as is ( I'm hoping the peephole sight will give my ageing sight enough help obtaining a good sight picture)
I thought the optimum distance for an aperture sight was about 3 inches from the eye? How are you finding it that far forward?

I've yet to take it to the range since fitting it but have seen good reports about them, they are sold specifically for this model (not that that's a guarantee). Looks promising when trying out at home. Will have to see how it fares with quick target acquisition at 25yd and 50yd. I'll let you know how I get on.

Down the range on Thursday night. although we were shooting outside with floodlights due to inside range closed for repair, the sight picture was good. The rear sight is fitted with the large aperture, which I found to be just right and was able to obtain a quick sight picture, the front sight being sharp in focus and the rear and target slightly out of focus. The distance from my eye to the rear aperture sight is just over 13 inches.
Still shoots high as did with old buckhorn rear sight so will still have to fit a higher front sight as the rear is as low as it can go, although I might try a few different loads to see if I can get it to come down the 2-3 inches needed at 25yds.
