Re: "WEAPON"
Whatever works for you. Way I see it, call it what you want. As for club members getting antsy, tough. Within reason I suit myself and not other members.
I call them rifles, what the Americans call "handguns" I call pistols.

Re: "WEAPON"
Really dislike the use of the word 'weapon' for target or sporting rifles and pistols...
...I let 'firearms' go, so that folk don't think I'm a total pedant; though it means the same thing...firearms are 'arms' (weapons) that fire...

Re: "WEAPON"
Surely "Gun" refers to a smooth-bored firearm, it drives me nuts when someone refers to a rifle as a "gun" - something a certain verbose video blogger prattles on about every time he talks about his rifle.
- Rifle
- Shotgun or more traditionally just "Gun" especially in upper class circles
- Pistol
- Revolver
Re: "WEAPON"
Well then, you won't wanna spend any time over 'ere. They're ALL guns. I'm a gun-owner. I carry my gun in a gun case when I take it to my gun club to shoot. And when I want a new one I go to a gun store. :)DW58 wrote:Surely "Gun" refers to a smooth-bored firearm, it drives me nuts when someone refers to a rifle as a "gun" -

A weapon incorporating a metal tube from which bullets, shells, or other missiles are propelled by explosive force, typically making a characteristic loud, sharp noise.
Political Correctness is the language of lies, written by the corrupt , spoken by the inept!

This is, "surely" (hate that word) a 'gun':

It sure as hell ain't a 'smoothbore'......

Just sayin'.....

Re: "WEAPON"
That is correct. What is shown in the top photo is a gun. What we all talk about are small arms and even side arms.
