Why rare?
If you listen to the knowledgeable people in this thread no-one wants these rifles as they are out of date and not up to snuff so there should be plenty around as no-one wants them or shoots them any more other than out of date old me.
Like all second hand guns you need to be patient and search for what you want, impatience leads to buying new and loosing money.

I know that you are a big fan of the 6.5 but the 270 has been recommended here and it is indeed a fine deer cartridge and is only 13/100ths of a inch larger than the 6.5 and is a true 7mm.

Not sure that anyone is importing them at the moment, but http://gunshop-eb.com/Centerfiresportingrifles.php occasionally has some 2nd hand (where I got mine). Sooo....people say buy a new Zastava (Mauser action) when the UK 2nd-hand market has quite a healthy stock of perfectly decent Mauser action sporters....most of which have the "Made in England" stamp on them as opposed to "assembled in Gibrovskistan, from genuine tractor parts"

I got both my Sako's back from Mick at Dolphin guns yesterday. What a nice man and what a craftsman. Turn around inside a week for both.
I fell in love with these two all over again last night. I was freehand shooting the .300 last night with its new muzzle brake. Absolutely beautiful and a joy to shoot.
The .25-06 now takes an Ase Utra moderator. It always was good but last night even with federal factory I had 3 in the same hole which made me worry for a moment I can tell you. Don't need that ridiculous level of accuracy with a deer rifle but it does give confidence.

Have to say I'd have no hesitation in recommending him for this kind of work.
I was recommended to him myself by someone who had stumped up a significant sum for a custom target rifle and was delighted with the result.
