VZ58 MARS - First Range Day

Re: VZ58 MARS - First Range Day
There's nothing wrong with the MARS action at all, it's trivial to see what state the rifle is in.
Re: VZ58 MARS - First Range Day
You pull the trigger, you expect a bang, one of the 4 simple rules of firearm safetyCharlotte the flyer wrote:If you hit the lever on a Southern Gun it will either send the parts forward or do nothing, it can never fire. You can't say the same for the MARS. Some of us shoot in tunnels where you can't always see the ejection port clearly. So in the middle of a practical rifle cof, you would need to remember if the MARS gun is charged or not.
Each to their own, it's not for me.

You don't get a bang, but you feel the bolt slide forward and remember what gun you've just spent your kid's inheritance on, you don't panic and you try again

Simples

The Gun should not be allowed IMO and all the videos of it shooting so fast is not good for our sport !! a release system is fine as its just a way of chambering the bolt ready to fire but one that uses the trigger in any way is WRONG IMO, this gun will lead to problems.

I am only stating what I feel, we have a sport that we should protect, and posting videos of it in speed mode are not good for any of us, and using a trigger as anything other than a firing mechanism is wrong

And that's just the sort of view that does more damage to our sport.R4CER wrote:we have a sport that we should protect, and posting videos of it in speed mode are not good for any of us, and using a trigger as anything other than a firing mechanism is wrong
The VZ58 is fully approved by the Home Office, it went through a lengthy and thorough vetting procedure before it was approved, do you seriously think they don't know how fast it can fire?, which, to be honest is a lot slower than a sem-auto shotgun. A sec.1 semi-auto shotgun with a +10 extension tube loaded with solid slug could do a lot more damage than the VZ58 but I don't see anyone jumping up and saying they shouldn't be allowed.

A view on safety of the system used to re charge the gun, and my view that posting fast fire videos of the same gun is damaging to the sport ?? HOW I am a responsible shooter with lots of guns and I have my views, one that is shared by many others it seems, its like the Lotus 88 with a double chassis it was a way to get round the rules, a loop hole if you will and thats what your gun is exploiting only with its trigger release system and the available easy very fast fire its a step too far and you are risking my SGC Unicorn and other leaver release guns being banned along with yours by posting the videos !! so yes I will say what I think,

You're more than welcome to post whatever you want but I can't see anything from the "many others" you seem to know about.
The irony of it is that someone with one of Fat Bobs lever release rifles (which, don't forget, were specifically designed to get round the very same rules) complaining about another system which does exactly the same thing. If speed of fire is an issue we'd better ban all the 22LR semi-auto pistols and rifles and semi-auto shotguns as well as they fire a lot faster than the VZ58. Strange how nobody has a problem with any of those being able to fire faster than a bolt action equivalent firearm.

What's NOT GOOD for "our sport" is/was narrow minded attitudes, as in NRA offishuls & target shooters sacrificing semi auto rifles to keep their particular discipline "safe"R4CER wrote:The Gun should not be allowed IMO and all the videos of it shooting so fast is not good for our sport !! a release system is fine as its just a way of chambering the bolt ready to fire but one that uses the trigger in any way is WRONG IMO, this gun will lead to problems.
Want to know HOW MANY of your "fine" lever release system rifles were messed with/modified by Police Scotland in an attempt to reclassify this "fine" design as Section 5 in Scotland?
What was it aabout lever release that made it not fine? ...the rate of fire. Nothing else.
They had their knickers in such a twist that they once told me they may have to seize my S.G.Co rifle for tests, to make sure it was not capable of semi auto fire.
I told them if it DIDN'T do semi auto it'd be going back to the makers...reminding them that they KNEW I had a .22 & NOT a 9mm...
Flap much?

You are wrong and frankly, your opinion amounts to diddly squat. What you voiced was irrational and cowardly and without doubt, destructive. Three times now I have had people like you, spouting rhetoric about what they believed was right and proper for "our" sport. Do everyone a favour will you, keep your treachery to yourself?

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
