Its an AK recoil spring by the looks of it, a Dragunov recoil spring is retained in the receiver cover and once the receiver cover is locked in place it retards the amount of movement the bolt carrier has, it doesn't travel right to the rear of the receiver and cannot come off the receiver rails as a result, it would appear the set up in the photo would actually allow the bolt carrier to travel too far rearwards and theres a real possibility it could actually come off the rails.With his head so far back he's got awful eye relief on that PSO-1 scope

Every now and again I am accompanied by a guest on my deer stalking permission.

My four regular guests all have shiny new rifles. All are expensive, ultra light, lovely glass and fantastic triggers. Every time I hold one of them I feel I should trade up from my old Parker Hale .270 - Its old but had less than 200rds through it since new. Its in a green (full length chassis) Hogue stock and it ( and the NF 8-32 scope ) has had a blast of matt green and matt brown paint. Cheekpiece in a foam and sniper tape improvised affair. It looks a rough as fcuk.

But on Sunday, I took it to Bisley just to check zero etc after a match. My favourite load - Norma 110gr vmax at 200 yards and the cold bore shot went just off centre of the black patch I was aiming at. 2nd shot clipped the edge of the same patch and the 3rd shot was 1.5" away - not bad for an old rifle !!

So, this old Mauser is "still in service" and will be staying in service for some time to come

Not in sunny Ukraine but this time in even sunnier Syria ... German 2WW FH.18 used by the Syrian Islamic Front .



If you ask me, that 10,5 cm Field Howitzer should be in my garden in Bretagne, facing the ocean, being lovingly restored and not in the hands of those mahometan savages that will wreck it

After all, the above user of his ST-44 brother is probably on the back of a lorry on his way to London to claim his refugee status as we speak , to meet his well integrated brother that got a job at Heathrow thanks to his ingenious skills...

Does he know that it's supposed to be a magazine fed weapon or does he just single feed them?

I would presume these are the same rifles that arrived on boat carrying "Tractor Parts" from the former Yugoslavia a while back ...... love to know were they are getting the 7.92 Kurtz from!

Or are they Black & Decker gunsmith 7.62x39 mm conversions

It's a camera ooman, providing the view to the tv. If you look carefully you'll see the whole thing is a remote control gun mount. Tripod, motors, servos...
