guys, it was worth the wait, its just a blast to shoot, makes me smile every time .... oh yes Ray, off to Severnside next outing..

I would definitely be among the "undesirable element" in British shooting on planet Yardley, in fact he would probably be so shocked he would drop his monocle and fall over his cased Purdeys

Congratulations!well,only 1 question-why not .22magnum?If it was sooo hard to complete this project,why not to go whole hog UK style from the starters?Then you know this is it-I can not do it here any better without emigrating to some semi-auto country...But do not get me wrong,I am oldschool thinker,sort of "aiming high".But again,well done!-it got me some kicks to finish my project...

Cheers mate, .22WMR is just too hot for a blow back bolt, I did suggest such a beast to the builder, but the re-engineering involved (basically a new bolt design), coupled with the tiny number of potential orders, just doesn't make it at all viable.

It would have to be a bolt design incorporating a locking system or a heavy bolt with greater mass to delay opening. Very cool idea though!

Anyone up for the challenge?

If you have time and money most things are possible. I'm sure you can find someone. Could you possible get someone to supercharge the current kit you have to work with 22wmr?

Heavy bolt with rubber recoil pad will do-works ok in my marlin 922m.JB

Thanks for the feedback guys, regarding any possable .22WMR bolt, there is plenty of space in the receiver for a new bolt group, however, the main (serious) stumbling block would be the significantly higher pressure in the thin liner. The hotter load + plus delayed action causing possible ( highly probable) bulges into the 7.62mm bore, locking it in place solidly for good!

As it stands, the combination of a beautifully designed, very robust bolt group, which incorporates a light bolt with plenty of travel space, a large port and very positive extraction/ejection, traslates to 99.9% reliable action. The long bolt travel and large port are part of what help to make the AK series so incredibly reliable after all.
It functions perfectly on all sub and hi velocity ammo tested so far.

As it stands, it has the serious advantage of cheap plentiful ammo, its surprisingly accurate out to 100 yds + and plenty of indoor ranges to shoot it on in the winter, really, whats not to like guys!

I agree, from an engineering perspective, no unsurmountable difficulties with a .22 WMR build , but the cost of developing and manufacturing a dedicated bolt group and barrel would unfortunately be prohibitively expensive.
