Length of pull too short, cheek weld no good for a red dot or a scope, fore grip too short, nowhere to put a bipod, sling options limited.

Fabulous rifle, for the Cold War.

I’m after something horrible and unique. ;)
Length of pull perfect when wearing thick winter Afghanka jacket Tovarisch, sling perfect for carrying rifle to BMP-1 and iron sights perfect for 0-300m......if you want scope and cheek weld use Dragunov! ussrflag

On a serious note if you want a modern, Spetsnaz approved, look this site may be of interest. Zentico products are very popular with some branches of the Russian military, very good quality and built to last :good:

Interesting kit in there.

What I really want is a Davis tactical left hand charging top cover.

But they’re too expensive for ITAR. SOB.

I bought a Romanian Cugir AKM and found all of the above, so bought a complete set of furniture from FAB Defence (I think.. the Israeli place..)
Once fitted, it was much better and you could comfortably mount a scope.

After a few months I decided i didn't like it, so changed back to the original furniture and only use the iron sights...

First purchase today - GSG5 A2 with a couple of spare mags.

Needs a proper clean and the mags round followers are a bit sticky and need attention. :good:

I picked up my new to me Mosin on Saturday and to say I'm pleased is an understatement!.

She is a 1944-dated Izhevsk Arsenal PU sniper with all matching serial numbers. The scope is a 1940-dated example produced at the NKV No.357 "Progress" Plant in Leningrad (prior to the plant relocating to Omsk due to the Siege of Leningrad) and is actually a SVT-40 scope.Early PU scopes prior to '42 were all SVT scopes and it is not uncommon to find them used on later Mosin snipers, many of them had the elevation drum changed due to the difference in POI between a SVT and a Mosin but mine appears to be unaltered which is relatively rare.

The scope and mount are matched to the rifle, the bolt/cocking handle are machined from one piece of steel (bolt handle is cut and a bent one fitted and welded on "reproduction" rifles) and everything is absolutely spot on.The previous owner apparently had it for around 30 years and I don't think it has been used a lot, if at all, in that time as there was still a fair bit of Cosmoline on her and the rifling/bore are perfect as is the crown as it hasn't been counter-bored like a lot of Arsenal refurb'd Mosins have been.

Will post some more photos at some point but here's one of her meeting my 1926 Izhevsk Arsenal ex-Dragoon for the first time.......

I bought one of these yesterday...
https://ibb.co/60TrV3n

Mossberg MVP Varmint in .223

No chance to shoot it yet, but given it an initial clean and mounted a scope on it.

I've no idea what Mossberg do with their rifles but the barrel was FILTHY...!! when i ran the first few patches down it, some brown crud (preservative?) came out, but after i'd gotten rid of that it was just carbon fouling... i alternated patches (20+) and PB brush, and never did get a totally clean patch out, but its a lot clean er than it was..!!

I think they test fire 10 of the dirtiest rounds they can find, then spray some preservative down the barrel....!!!
