We all know that any bullet will expand on impact with a hard object, but that's not the question in law - which is, "Is it designed to expand on impact?"

Target shooters must not use bullets designed to expand on impact - that is illegal, and therefore you can't have a condition on a certificate to allow you to use it for target shooting."

BASC suggested that anyone having bother over this give them a ring...if they are a member.

according to a certain Aftab they are ok to be sold as target and ok for posting throught the post.

With this in mind i am buying all the amxs i an find expect prices to rise very soon. Not reallly just bought a few thou thats all.

I travel through Swaffham on a weekly basis but I Woods not know of which place you refer - Woods you tell me ansd how come it crops up here? I can't see the Woods from the trees :goodjob:

This is a bloody daft one isn't it?!?! Hornady say that they expand violently, but they also say they're designed FOR MATCH shooters, i.e. not shooting animals. So I'll go with that.

Interesting though - Hornady are now making shiny boxes for their bullets. Just packaging? No... I was loading a bunch of 80 amax, finished one box and moved onto another. Checked the bullet seating on the first of the new box to confirm all still well, and it's 0.014" different, seated to ogive. Same part number from Hornady, different bullet.

Many thanks for that one... since this loading is for competition use, I am off to the range tomorrow to see just what difference it all makes.

Anyway, not sure if this is a major redesign or a tweak. I do know that I shot a squirrel when out zeroing the other day, and I can confirm that whether by intent or luck, the A-max DOES expand rather well!

Suffolk would like the issue by email in order to consider: I'll do it the next day or so.

I've written to Durham Constabulary as well with the same question.
