Are they any different from the subtitles embedded in the film?

OK. The existing subtitles seem OK so far... the only complaint is they didn't translate the german tank commander, but I don't think it matters.

No there is no need as the Russian is doing the translation which is in the subtitles, you would only get the same twice if they subtitled the SS officer.

Also if you haven't seen the film Fury, you should, but be aware it's style is similar to a graphic novel. It's brutal.

Sadly war is brutal and personally I would rather watch a film that tells it like it is rather than one that sugar-coats it.

The Beast/Beast of War is worth a watch, some Russian tank action set in the Soviet-Afghan conflict

Fury kind of bathes in it's vulgarity... aaarggh

Thanks, I'll see if I can watch it over the Christmas break. At least 50% of my DVD collection are war films... :good:

9th Company (9 Pota) is also good, kind of a Russian full Metal Jacket, and loosely based on actual events that culminated in the Battle for Hill 3234 during the Soviet-Afghan conflict.Very accurate indeed in terms of equipment, weapons and uniforms etc used.
