The NRA seem to support the requests by Barclays although there is no real explanation for the Barclays requests...why are other banks not making these requests....what do Barclays do with the information and copy documents they obtain...
Barclays have a financial crime list as long as this page...not the sort of firm to give confidential information to.
What has prompted this interest in shooting clubs, from Barclays Bank?

Could you post this or a link to it. I can't find it (or any mention of Barclays) on their Website
Thanks

Just one further thought..a copy of the Home Office cert will have the club secretary's name and address and a copy of the club FAC will have the name and address of the holder...if anyone is persuaded to supply a copy of these documents, I suggest you obscure the personal information.

just give them the HO approval number that is evidence in its own right of a properly constituted & run club, the bank can then go ask HO for further info & then provide the name / address of the account statement holder (treasurer) & then names of counter signatories to cheques (Sec Chair usually) as a letter form the chair quoting the AGM that appointed them.

Or bank with Lloyds / Nat west treasurers account

or

Or ignore all this BS open a simple card account in the treasurers name like the TSB Plus Ac get 5% on club funds & a debit card to buy stuff over the phone, no account charges or transaction charges & have the statements emailed to chair sec too so its transparent.

That would be my take on it. Love to see this backfire on Barclays and for them to lose money. They have no legitimate business having these details - they're the ones making interest on clubs' money. It's not like they're an insurance company assessing risk - they're just usury parasites.

The never ending story.... received yet another call from Barclays ref the club bank account I now control...the caller asked if I was the person she had spoken to before!!
Deep breath..."yes", I said... "We understand that your club holds firearms..( the clue is in the name "Rifle Club").....we will need to see a copy of the club FAC if the guns are held on the club premises.....Why?..".part of our review procedures"...."well, the club does not have any premises"...silence..."oh ...in that case I will mark my review as complete"..."jolly good".

I await the next instalment.

Meanwhile I attempted to register online for my personal Barclaycard statements...bank account held for 50 years, barclaycard since they were first issued. Unable to register, computer says, " We are unable to verify your identity"....I give up.

The term "banker" as rhyming slang is not accidental
