Could follow SimG's recent-ish lead and get a nice Rem 700 LTR in 6.8SPC.
Phenominal little cartridge in a very compact package...
Or go with my initial idea of the 30-30 Winchester 94

Absolutely certainly NOT vermin.
Muntjac are covered by the Deer Act and the only difference is they have no close season because they are capable of breeding all year round so the does are almost continually pregnant from the time they reach breeding age.
I stand corrected and yes they are covered by the Deer Act. Around here when you mention vermin to the FEO he immediately replies with, 'Yes Fox, Muntjac and so on'

How about a nice little stutzen in .243, not in favour because you cant/should not add a moderator. Also nice to carry. Something different from the crowd.

How about a Ruger American Ranch Rilfe - bolt action in 300 Blackout?

Well there is certainly nothing bad about the Ruger, is the Ranch Rifle available over here, I have not seen any yet.

No, and Viking aren't going to bring any in either, according to the bloke I spoke to concerning the very model and calibre mentioned by DaveB

That's a real shame - the Ruger is a nice rifle and I think 300 Blackout is a great calibre for these small deer at relatively close ranges (200 yards and under).

Can't you just rechamber a 223 in 300 blk? Or is there more to it than a barrel change?
On the subject of 300 blk, it's subsonic and ideally for moderating right?
