No, all you need is the empty slot on your FAC and the transfer license document from the dealer or whoever issues such things locally (town hall?).

I think that I understand the paperwork requirements to bring firearms in from another EU country however do I need to know serial numbers before I leave the UK? (for instance if I was to attend a gunshow).
Serial numbers not needed....though I did collect a few Finnish gun dealers business cards at the show last year.
They all assured me it was easy to buy guns in Finland & "export" them; not the case with Sweden or Denmark, mountains of paperwork, esp. the latter...
OH - and the German collector - he was the original owner of the MN91B I just picked up from Ulster bigteeth

Right Chaps,
Here is the reply that I received from my RFD chum in Finland. I told him that I would fly out and buy from him however judging by his reply he either has not understood or the system is different in Finland.
Hi Iain, yes it is possible. You have to get private prior consent from your local police.
I need next documents:
· copy from your passport or ID-card
· prior consent
· copy from your license to buy rifle
· power of attorney, where your authorize me representative you issue of gun in Finland (funny English…)
With above documents I can get next documents from Finnish police:
· prior consent 27 €
· purchase license 32 €/weapon
Also I can’t give rifles to you in Finland. I must deliver rifles to the airport personally.
