I hope so however the way around the compensation pay out would be just to amend to law to say that target shooting will be no longer a good reason to hold a firearm ! So when a target shooters fac expires a few years later he will not able to renew it for target shooting !! (Indirect banning )

It won't be that simple Joe, There is a lot more to the legislative process than you think. Sim G will be along soon. We've all had these sky's are falling threads. Hell I remember wanting to send some of my guns to the isle of man, but it never came to pass. Just keep your nerve cool and we'll get to any problems when they do. it doesn't help to worry about stuff that might not come to pass.

Pardon me for historical accuracy but it was the Conservatives who banned both semi-auto and handguns. Labour just delivered the killing blow with .22LR pistols. wtf

That was what I was referring to. And the 22 exemption was so minor it was crazy. If you read the text of the original 1997 act, you were required to keep a 22 at a licensed pistol club, so it already having a home office cert wasn't enough. The amendment that completely banned 22 pistols was only about 3 paragraphs long. So if whitehaven had never happened, we'd have ended up if you believe with 22s back, ON SECTION 7.3 TYPE CONDITIONS I might add.

the only time the corporatists a-holes care about firearms is so the they can keep deer stalking and having the grouse/pheasant shoot. The rest of us lower down the pecking order shooters can go hang if you ever read between the lines of Douglas Turd and and Halisham (the one who's son tried to charge the taxpayer to have his moat dredged).

Also the same Douglas Hurd was once himself fined for possession of an unlicensed Shotgun. Ah how the other half lives eh?

Funny how the inbred mouth breather with the spray can had ONE JOB to do, but typical of SNP-YUS mentality, got the swastika the wrong way round!!

I've got a renewal in progress; renewal date 16th April; I completed the forms early January; The Enquiries cop got the forms on her desk at div cop shop on the 27th January. After 2 wake up calls to licensing I had my visit last week. Now still waiting. The enquiries cop now has a 19 page form to fill in (as opposed to the older version which was 4 pages!!). The cops will admit to you that they can hardly cope with the ordinary (Licensing) workload & that this is on of the "Peak" years in the cycle for renewals. The experienced licensing officers left (or were left) at the changeover to the one single Scottish Police Farce. The system is in meltdown and will never cope with Airgun Licensing; just ask any Scottish Cop.

Police Scotland should offer a free one or two year extension to a number of existing FAC/SGC holders to even the workload.

Mind you, I'm not complaining, my renewal falls on one of the quiet two years of the five year cycle.

Why is there "peak years" for licensing? Surely people apply at different times or am I missing something?
