Re: RFD computerised record keeping.
I had also expected more on this. I have heard nothing from my firearms licensing office, read nothing on any of the main organisation sites and nothing in the shooting related press yet.

This is the BASC press release from the 23/12 http://basc.org.uk/blog/press-releases/ ... directive/ovenpaa wrote:I had also expected more on this. In releasing the decision couple of days before Xmas the Home Office was possibly hoping very few people would have noticed...

Re: RFD computerised record keeping.
So according to their press release BASC was the only organisation discussing this with the HO?

The BASC PR dept is very good at spinning things to their advantage...dromia wrote:So according to their press release BASC was the only organisation discussing this with the HO?

Re: RFD computerised record keeping.
I am thoroughly confused by this and my question has to be who was the HO liaising with on this, certainly it appears the NRA were not aware of the talks, or if they were they are not talking about it at this stage. BASC are waving the flag and claiming responsibility yet somehow I doubt this was not 100% down to their contribution and it would also appear only some of the licensing departments are making there RFDs aware.
Confusing.
Confusing.

Re: RFD computerised record keeping.
I would guess that the GTA was the lead body liaising with the HO with BASC following on and as a result they had PR machine ready to go. I wouldn't go as far as Adam and say that they're lying, but BASC definitely presents things to their best advantage.ovenpaa wrote:I am thoroughly confused by this and my question has to be who was the HO liaising with on this, certainly it appears the NRA were not aware of the talks, or if they were they are not talking about it at this stage. Confusing.
Also, I think the main reason some licensing departments haven't made RFDs aware of the change was the timing of the HO decision. I would imagine that word will start filtering out now that Christmas/New Year is over.

Re: RFD computerised record keeping.
To me the BASC press release states that it was due to their representations and no one elses "However, following representations from BASC, which focused on ensuring businesses are not disadvantaged, the Home Office has now announced that it has revisited its position on the implementation of the directive.".
If other people were involved then to me that is a blatant lie.
You can take the post-modern view and say that it was a bit of cheeky misrepresentation if you wish but to me knowingly not telling the truth is lying.

Re: RFD computerised record keeping.
I don't know what representations were made or by whom, but from a BASC perspective it could have been their contributions that swung it and if that was the case then their press release would be technically correct, IMO.dromia wrote:To me the BASC press release states that it was due to their representations and no one elses "However, following representations from BASC, which focused on ensuring businesses are not disadvantaged, the Home Office has now announced that it has revisited its position on the implementation of the directive.".

I simply wouldn't go as far as to say they are lying because I really don't have the proof to say that they are. Mainly because nobody else has come forward to say that they were involved in this issue.
