Not sure that many clubs have that amount of spare cash in the bank or investments? And considering the hike in lease costs to clubs, I would suggest that their financial situations may not be the healthiest in a few years time....

It might just be me worrying too much, but when you add little snippets together - no Hogs Rally (for whatever the reason), change of ice-cream vans, Norman Clark not attending the meeting, increases to club lease costs, prohibitively expensive serviced caravan sites, I am getting a little uneasy about the future.

If you mean of the NRA then I too have had a similar feeling for some time now.

I have heard it said the re are a number of millionaires in dingy old caravans but are there 26 off?

Does the NRA get a kick back (poss not the right term but!) from selling the vans to add to the payback period?

Do you get a discount if the caravan has a bullet hole in it?

I had an e-mail from the NRA touting for my possible interest in this project today

No idea why, I'm not a member....
Straws & clutching comes to mind if they're addressing the issue toward non-NRA folk at this early stage

Yes, 10% of the 'van cost.

If my maths is correct:

£24064 for the van CHEAPEST option
£550 siting fee
£2406 NRA commission
£3500 lease premium
£1950 pa rent (linked to RPI)

£32470 outlay for your first year (+ utilities).

£34070 for the van DEAREST option
£550 siting fee
£3247 NRA commission
£3500 lease premium
£1950 pa rent (linked to RPI)

£43317 outlay for your first year (+ utilities).

Oh, at the end of 20 years, you will have NOTHING..........

Assume no big changes in RPI (ha ha!), say £2000 pa rent + £300 pa utiltiies= £2300 pa = £43700 for years 2 - 20.

Cheapest van £32470 + £43700 = £76170 over 20 years = £3808.50 average pa.

Dearest van £43317 + £43700 = £87017 over 20 years = £4350.84 average pa.

So spending over £87K, I repeat, at the end of 20 years, you will have NOTHING..........

My current (ex-park home) static van cost about £10000 + 19 yrs at £1000 pa rent = £29000 over 20 years = £1450 average pa. I haven't included bottled gas, say £50 pa. Even so, rounded up to £1500 pa average compared with the Champagne Palaces, there is a HUGE difference.

With an initial outlay of between £32470 - £43317, will there be a huge rush? If I had that sort of money available, I would invest in property!

All for a centrally heated van you can't use all winter.

I hope there won't be a travel lodge. They always end up jam full of tracksuit wearing kyle show rejects who smell like special brew.
