Actually, I want that swamp sorted as a safety issue. The 200 FP gets very cluttered, so it's difficult for the RO to see what's going on. I'd like everyone off the point except shooters & ROs, but it's not practical until there is somewhere else to sit.

Evening Iain,

do you know if SS is availible on a Friday to members of the NRA or is it for sole use of the Police now?

Thank you
Dougan

There's plenty of contact info on the NRA web site - I find that I can get most of my questions answered with a couple of phone calls...wait til Tuesday (some folk are off on Mondays after working the weekend), call up and ask about SS on Fridays...and then you can let us all know the answer...

...I would say email them, but I find phoning better - and I don't want to open up a can of worms about email communication.....

...Badger...NO! razz (ignore that remark Ginger...it's for our strange stripy friend)

from the NRA web site under news items
Butt 19 Development Update
Works for the improved 100 yard firing point on Century Range are progressing well with the final laying of turf due to be completed in the next few days. Cable runs for elctronic targets have been laid and a new access path created.

We expect the new facilities to be available by mid to late June.

Take at look at the work so far.

I've tried without success to get a booking during the week on SS for the last 2 weeks, but its definitely in use over the weekend. The NRA had a guest day on Saturday (my dad loved it - wish there were more held!) and our club was using SS all day yesterday; it was very busy but everyone seemed to get along okay.

From what I hear the Police paid handsomely for the use of SS during the week, the NRA would have been daft to turn them down. We end up getting a brand new range with electronic targets etc as a result so its win/win as far as I see it? All we have to do is be patient while its being built

Butt 19 went live today at 100.

Not anywhere near a finished project. We still need to do all the fencing, gates and signs through to the Siberia car park. The point itself is only just usable - the turf is barely stabilised. The electronics are still some way off, though we know in general terms who we will buy from and how we will do it.

There were some very valid comments today. The benches are not stable, because the uprights are not concreted in. The benches HAVE to be removable; I spent about 40 minutes sitting at one this evening (that's free to the NRA while quietly enjoying the sunset with the dog) thinking how to solve the stability problem. I think I have a solution and I will be discussing it tomorrow with Estates and Ranges. The covers we used today were OK today, but won't work in rain; we need something better. Lots of club members weren't redirected by their officers, ended up mixed in with the Police on Siberia, and didn't have the knowledge to understand where they should be. The path surface probably needs rollering to firm it up.

We also need to do a better job explaining how the targets work. We have several different models of the basic 6' x 6' target designed to be used in different ways. It was apparent today that the differences between variants are not as obvious to everyone as we thought they would be. Some explanation and education will be required.

Thanks to everyone who gave us feedback.

Iain
