This sounds like an interesting sort of competition. I have an AR-15 rifle in .223 and would like to do more than just plink on Short Siberia. How does one get involved? Sorry if this has already been covered, I haven't read the whole thread. :)

I did try to read the thread but everything got a bit heated and I gave up. Silly really. Sometimes it seems that shooters are their own worst enemy.

If you've got a suitable rifle and the necessary paperwork; then get yourself entered, I think that entries are still open.

If you turn up to watch, I guarantee that by the second stage you'll be cursing yourself for not taking part! The match is run by a friendly bunch and you'll be welcomed. Let them know it's your first match and they'll make sure you get squadded with someone who can help.

I'll be there on Sunday, if you look for a guy that is 6'7" tall and wearing glasses then come over and say hello.

One last thing - wrap up warm and make sure you bring waterproofs - and suitable footwear!

Think you need to read my username again

I shoot a SGC speedmaster, which has changed quite a bit over the last few years (and will continue to do so). As has already been mentioned, AR15s make up a vast majority of the field of the Service Optic and Practical Optic classes and a couple of people shoot irons too! So unless you've done something very left field with it, your AR15 should be fine.

Blackknight1974 - I have a Wylde chambered SGC thing which I mostly try to shoot beyond 600 with mixed results. What sort of modifications have you made to yours? (Feel free to start a new thread)

So far I have been stripping stuff off mine to drop the weight, ditched the left charging handle and fitted a dust cover and built a new right hand charging handle.

I'm terribly sorry young man, no offence intended. What an arse I am.

I haven't done anything to my rifle, I bought it second hand from a chap at Bisley. It has a sort of square tube over the barrel, and a retractable stock. I forget who he said made it. The serial number is BAR something, so maybe it's a Browning?
