I was speaking to a friend of mine at the range to night and he was telling me that they were re-squadded due to lack of entries and RCO's.

Meetings are like guns, use them or loose them!
I hope it's not quite - last year the trade-fair wasn't too bad, but there weren't that many people shooting on the Sunday.

I don't understand why more people with classics don't shoot the meeting...I've got a day and half of shooting (including some courses of fire that you don't often get the chance to shoot), with organised range conducting and butt-marking for less than 60 quid....

...I'll bring you and Rog a cuppa when I get there tomorrow :good:
Good man, I'll need it!

It was an excellent weekend - The conditions though damp, were good on the Saturday, and not bad either on Sunday morning...I put in a half decent score with the Mauser, but shot like a dillon with the SMLE, and actually didn't put a couple of my cards in as they were shameful  - But as always it was good to see the verity of SOWRs being shot...On one detail, I shot with one guy who put in a 48 with a battered old Martini, and another guy who scored a 50.8 with his M41 B...was impressive to watch tongueout

Managed to say hi to a few members - Had a catch up with Gaz and his mate, who were being kept busy by the scouts (did you finish your keg?) - Met Meaty and his friend...I now know why he's called 'Meaty'...don't argue with him :P ...it was pouring down when they went back to their tent for dinner (how did you get on with the camping?) - Also saw Duff eyed Doyle, who I'm starting to think actually lives in the woods next to the McQueens point on Century :P (Always good to see you Duff  ).

The sensible ones (Me, Dromia and Kay (Mrs Droomie)) stayed inside at the Artisans for the evening...we had a few wikis and covered a large range of topics, as you do (If you get the chance, ask Droomie about his kite sailing record clapclap )...now Droomie says that we didn't have that much to drink; but after we got back to the cabins, I was having trouble getting in...until Kay pointed out that it wasn't my cabin

It was great to spend the whole weekend there this time...It's such a relaxed and interesting meeting...and I would recommend anyone with a classic/veteran rifle to give it a go :good:

A thoroughly good weekend and made better by meeting Dougan, Dromia and Kay and Dodgyrog. I had my Fullbore hoodie on for the Saterday morning hoping that It would prompt other members to say hello but it was so bloody warm in the pavilion that I had to take it off-my mate reckoned that I was "sweating like a certain J.Saville in Mothercare!"
Dougan, we tried to find you after dinner but didnt think to look back in the Artists as we thought that you had all moved on. Never the less it was a good excuse to check out the beer in just about every clubhouse that sold it
We lost the tent on the way back and tripped over nearly every guy rope on the site so apologies to anyone who got woken up. Also discovered that the tent needs re-proofing **** but we were too drunk to care! Felt a little delicate in the morning but a bacon sandwich or two and large volumes of tea out of one of Dromias cavernous Martini Henry mugs soon sorted me out. Came home with a very nice M.H. mkIV 577/450 that will hopefully be on ticket soon (pics to follow)
A very good weekend and nice to put friendly faces to some names.
Thanks.

Sadly I didn't meet many forumers while I was there! Said hello to Dromia and Dougan but unfortunately missed the clubhouse tour. Ah well, there's always the next meeting.

I'm glad the weather didn't put you guys off, and it was worth the trip - hopefully see you again at another meeting
