Vince, I believe F Open rests could be built significantly lighter and still be effective and also the jacking points/feet will be different, also I believe a turntable assembly for alignment is of more use on an F Open rest. I have a couple more idea on them as well but they may be unfounded so I will have a play this winter and see what comes of my ideas.

I'm dubious about the weight thing - heavier = stability. Also, adding the 'turn-table' would add weight. The NEO is lighter than the mk1.
I've had a mk1 SEB for about three years and found the turn-table 'handy' - now I don't have it, I can't say it bothered me at the Europeans - you just have to pay a bit more attention when setting up.
