This is the view from the top of the Butts looking back to the FP
New tyres on the Uglee car which have worked well so far, the whole of the area is quite sandy so should be free draining but I have found some huuuuge puddles and even grounded the sump in one
A despondent looking forum administrator having just been told she was shooting like a tosser.
The obligatory black AI picture, I really should make some decent thumb screws for the cheek piece.

Christel shot a nice 5 shot group at two and a bit inches which is around .35MOA which I guess was OK given the mirage and slightly odd wind.
We also met up with some German chaps I have met in the past, all shooting Kar98 Snipers (Of course!) So I shot a side rail Zeiss scoped one from 1945 which promptly nicked me on the bridge of the nose but gave some very nice results with a first five shot group of 87mm at 300m. The owner told me the rifle must love me as it was performing so well
Apparently the owner of this rifle is a very well respected hunting rifle builder in Germany and his big game Mausers go for many thousands of Euros.
I followed with another Kar98 sniper which I noticed was Orbendorf and covered in Waffenamts and had an odd hinged sling mount at the rear, accuracy was a bit off for me at around 110mm for five shots albeit all with a slight left however I certainly was not going to try and adjust his 'scope.
Language was a bit of an issue but I managed to convey my thanks and delight at shooting some superb specimens of this rifle. They were shooting military issue ammunition with a small front rest and I was impressed with the accuracy. Another thing struck me as I walked away. I have never seen such fine kar98's in the UK, I guess they got all the good ones!

:goodjob: Just a thought, how about rebarelling the AI with a tight twist and experimenting with subsonic ammunition and calibres like some of the whispers.
What's the German equivalent of the "Huns head"? :-P

Great pics, love the comment about the Viking. (Bet you didn't really say that, not to Christel's face anyway :lol: )
How is the backing board for the Huns head stuck to the pole and do you just paste fresh targets onto the board?

I use scraps of 3/8 ply and spray mount the Huns Heads to them, we take one with us and shoot it to bits, what is left is screwed to the wall above my reloading benck in the shed.
Ze Germans took a picture of it and told me they were not allowed to shoot at such targets in Germany
