CMMG firing pin life expectancy?

My firing pin has more than 10,000's on the clock but I did break the receiver frame

Gazza, nope the modification is at the other end. I really would like to get my hands on a rifle to see if the transition radius between the minor and major diameters could be increased however they are not particular in my part of Lincolnshire.

Is there much scope for modifying that section if the firing pin spring, a close sliding fit on the minor diameter and inside the bolt, bears on it? If you increase the transition radius much above the radius of the wire the firing pin spring is made from, then could there be a risk of binding between the spring and bolt when the spring comes under compression?

If that makes any sort of sense!

I'm no mechanical engineer or machinist but I'd say the first option is a good one that being to face the pin where it breaks and drill to accept a hardened pin which can be replaced if need be.

I'm going to see my friend the model steam engine man tomorrow hopefully for the broken pin facing off and drilling to accept an "insert"
If we get a result I'll post some piccies etc on here.
Will this be a stronger way of doing things I wonder? Stronger than a one piece Titanium pin?
Anyway, experiment is my middle name

Eagerly awaiting news that the pins are in production! If the pins are a good deal tougher might it be possible to use heavier hammer springs Mr Paa?
