Could it be the length of the case that was the issue? Where these home loads? I find MEN is awful in my M14, hard extraction 100% of the time, but Hornady TAP and many others are blissfully easy. I had always meant to get the micrometer out and double check what the difference was, but never got round to it. I used the mag on the front of the charging handle so I can get both hands on it to extract the MEN brass. I just jam something soft between the 2 so nothing's scratched.

The rail system is made by UTG of all people and appear to be good quality.

I ordered a M14 Harris stud from Brownells, which I fitted after cutting the back plate down significantly as it would not fit in the stock recess as it needs to in order for the front "U" to engage the action back in to the stock.

I did have one stuck case, which needed a rubber mallet to aid removal of but a quick spray of 3in1 into the mag after loading it and a bit of a shake around seemed to cure everything. There was a field debate that some military rifle prefer steel cases to brass.

Using factory ammo for the moment and last Sunday the Barnaul l put through it did not cause any issues. Have some GGG NATO and Match so will try that next time. Will check out the OAL's and see if much of a difference.

Shame about LDT pulling the SOCOM version and no not selling mine :))

+1 I guess it will never happen if it's still got extraction issues, or maybe LDT are no longer interested or they would have sorted it by now, all it needs is a new barrel.

"Shame about LDT pulling the SOCOM version and no not selling mine" Still advertised on LDT as MLR and on Oakrise.
