Today I've gone to the website to watch live coverage of the shooting.
The website is great. Lists all the sports not shown on the main channels or the red button with live streams.

BUT on several occasions the only sport with live stream of live events was shooting!

To be honest (and I hope that I am proven wrong) I am not expecting the wider UK Olympic team to do as well in Rio 2016 as in London 2012 when it comes to the medal table.

After the huge financial push to do well in London the funding has trailed off, this is not unusual. There is this expectation that if you do well in a sport then that will carry forward even with lesser funding. The truth is once the funding and pressure to develop talent slips Olympic performance drops as well. Other countries have seen this happen when they have hosted the Olympics.

I truly hope the UK Olympic shooting team can step up and be a prominent part of the UK medal haul but I am not holding my breath!

Bronze medal for Ed Ling in the Mens Trap this afternoon

I watched the trap shooting last night (well done Tom on the Bronze) I was surprised by the number of no birds the traps were giving; if that amount had happened at the local clay pigeon ground i would have been saying something, but for it to happen at an Olympic final is laughable. To be honest the venue from what I could see on the TV generally was on the budget end of life.

I also noticed they blew down the barrel after each shot. Is this to prevent fouling?

the explanation on the commentary for the number of 'no target' was that the humid, hot conditions caused the clays to stick together. no sure how valid that is.

probably to double check their barrel is clean before popping in the next cartridge.
