Yes you possibly can but as Colin says not ideal for zeroing or load development because of wind issues particularly down the right hand side of Century.

100m isn't just electronic targets on Century, polemass.

I think you might find we aren't.....given that the taxpayer doesn't fund the CNP, the Nuclear Industry has to, and since that is no longer public owned, it's not tax payer money paying for Bisley.

Granted, some of the money from our electricity bill's will be contributing to it, but not every person pays electric bills.

While the nuclear police were wholly absent from the Siberia range, they had apparently completely taken over one of the short distance ranges up by the clay shoot....half a dozen parked police vans and what sounded like the gunfight at the OK Corral!!

Looks as if the nuclear police can also block book other NRA ranges.Glad my taxes are going to a good cause.

Having fun at Winans, you can only book the whole range, it's not big. As long as they enjoyed themselves and tidied up afterwards, why should we create about it?

From what I can gather, Bisley was a dump, bordering on derelict, before Mercer took over. Losing money left, right, and centre. That isn't sustainable and would risk losing the facilities altogether, nevermind SS during the week when there is significantly less demand for range space from members when compared to the weekend.

That's perhaps taking the description of Bisley a little too far RDC. Not entirely a dump but in need of more than a little help. Financially a bit of a disaster requiring some radical decisions to be made that didn't meet with the approval of many. As they say desperate situations require desperate measures.

While I only visit Bisley twice maybe three times a year, each time I can see differences from the previous visit. I've seen some changes that are good and others that I'm not so happy about. What I am afraid of is Bisley being priced out of the reach of the common working or for that matter retired man.

I can book a target with marker at 600/800/900/1000 etc on a Friday morning split the cost 3 or 4 ways and pay no more than £25 for 4 hours shooting. That seems like a good deal to me. Even cheaper in winter.

I cant understand why you would want to shoot at 100yds other than sighting in- unless you are stalking - maybe.
And I prefer to sight all my rifles at 200yds anyway.

Try understanding that the NSC caters for many more disciplines than intermediate to long range shooting.

The 100 facility is used for a lot more than just the less able shooters, it also caters for a lot of CSR practice (The Urban Contact for the Imperial now goes off camp as SS in not large enough) which is often seen as hooliganism by some users of SS during the weekend (so we try and shoot during the week) and many other disciplines use 100, as well as people just enjoying themselves (As I assume you do past 600 as I did when I used to shoot FTR).

It is also a valuable zeroing and ammo test facility. Yes, we can practice at 200, but come the revolution you will still need 100 POAs or zeros for the 100 practices. It used to be a near cert that you could get 100 in the week as every bugger shot at the weekend on SS, but since the electronics have come in this is no longer the case....and they seem very sparsely populated whenever I get up there. I dont really see why it was important to put targets that show you on a screen where your shot goes at a range that then stops people who depend on using their eyes to do the same. Would they not have been more use at 300? Ah well.
