I know.
The unissued bit really doesn't make a difference, some people will see it as a plus others as at best of no consequence or prefer to have some military issue provenance about it.
At the end of the day it is a very nice clean late manufacture no4 and so should demand top end No4 prices around £550 retail would seem right for the rifle.
It is market place however and if someone wants to pay high pounds for it then good luck to the seller.

Do you guys remember back in the days when the sun shone every day, beer was 86p a pint and you could select a superb No4 (from a pile) for £100 ... ahhh, happy long gone days!
The price of good shooing No4's has really started to rise in the last few years, its a good time to buy a good clean example (still about £400 if you look about) as they will without doubt carry on rising in value.

Without making myself feel too old, I remember them at £12.50, or 15 if you wanted it smoothbored

I remember when it was 1/-3d for a pint of McEwans Pale Ale in the screw top bottle.
Don't know why it was called pale ale as was a black as a tinkers neck.

Thanks for all the messages and help....after carefully removing the old grease that handed the fur from the gun slip stuck on it! And cleaning the wood off and giving the bore a look I've decided that it's so new and in such amazing condition that I'm going to keep it....
