That is my point Joe - thanks for clarification Chuck .
What I meant is that everybody can buy a gun (curios etc..) but to have CCW depending on States you need to apply & pass a test . That is my annalogy with FAC. How many of those CCW permit holders have used their gun to rob a bank, shot the milkman & the wife etc... ? Probably very very little in comparison of the volume of "real" feral crimes commited. The same way that in the UK a lot of crime is commited with a blade (that can actually be hand-made). The problem is not the guns avaibility, it is the number of criminals left roaming the streets .

Hi Froggy

froggy, No they can NOT,. not everyone can buy a gun - there ARE LAWS, they just do not apply to criminals! Generally to buy a gun requires going through a FFL dealer...there are NO "gunshow loopholes".

Yu can buy privately but if you're a convicted felon, that 's illegal. You can get someone to buy it for you - straw purchases are also ilegal unless it's under the government's "Fast & Furious" scheme.!

No not quite. Some people in some states do have to apply but a CCW is really a basic safety test, it does NOT make people proficient in self defence - far from it. It usually lasts a DAY (or a few hours I have seen) and is around $60.00..would you risk your life on $60 of training if you were a newbie?

Some classes last longer so really quite unlike our system mon ami. What this means is that someone with the same handgun skills as you and I can attend the class and get the same permit as someone who just bought their gun last week and never fired a shot..
How many of those CCW permit holders have used their gun to rob a bank, shot the milkman & the wife etc... ?Probably very very little in comparison of the volume of "real" feral crimes commited.
Probably NONE?? The fact they are a CCW holder is not the issue is it?
The same way that in the UK a lot of crime is commited with a blade (that can actually be hand-made)
. Crime is illegal no matter where you are I reckon. lol
The problem is not the guns avaibility, it is the number of criminals left roaming the streets .
Now you got it.

cheers
