This amendment is just WOW!
Bodies concerned with the cultural and
historical aspects of weapons and
recognised as such by the Member State in
whose territory they are established and
holding in their possession firearms
classified in category A acquired before
the date of entry into force of this
Directive should be able to keep those
firearms in their possession subject to
authorisation by the Member State
concerned and provided that those
firearms have been deactivated.
Talk about ignoring the expert advice from museum curators and making things even worse! So a museum can keep it's collection now (how generous) but it must be butchered and they can't add to it! They were told that in some cases deactivation would remove the cultural value and would be a hugely expensive impractical exercise!

[img]1. Member States shall ensure that all the
essential components of any firearm
placed on the market have been marked
and registered in compliance with this
Directive.

Considering the vast range of functionality when it comes to guns how do they propose to do this especially when Police departments largely lack any kind of technical knowledge:
1. Member States shall ensure that all the
essential components of any firearm
placed on the market have been marked
and registered in compliance with this
Directive.
It makes my blood boil! What is the point of having the IMCO committee appoint a rapporteur go out and consult interested parties and put forward amendments if the LIBE committee are going to decide to ignore all that and have another go!

Thanks Tovarich for relaying this most interesting admittion of fault .
"We were wrong in overregulating and interfering too much in the daily lives of our fellow citizens..."
I am all in favour of a truly independent European bloc & was very supportive of the European Union... but not the monster it has become. The people have told him on countless occasions via referendums that had to re-voted over when him & his ilks did not like the outcome. Now that the sh*t is about to hit the fan it is probably too late and somehow I doubt he is very genuine about it...
