I have a military compass here and military range finding binoculars graduated in mils and they work well however it takes you back to the age old issue of incompatibility. The vast majority of people who use a compass (Probably a dwindling number with the availability of digital devices) Will look at you blankly if you give them a heading in mils or describe a viewed location relative to a point in mils. Even MOA shooters are confused when you tell them it is windy today, you will need 1,6 mils windage or mutter about it being so cold you needed 12,7 mils of elevation to get to 1100m
