"Local gun shop, 17 choices of brand or bullet weight". Hell in this country even in the best stocked gun shop in the land regardless of cartridge or calibre you would be lucky to have a choice of 3.

.308 is available everywhere, and is legal for all UK species, with a mod fitted recoil is no different to any of the pre-mentioned calibres, and is cheap as chips for practise ammo.
