Ladies and Gentlemen ... ...

Image

The above photo is a representation of the new Canadian Rangers Rifle which will be produced on license by Colt Canada for the Canadian Government.

It is a modified version of the Tikka T3 CTR in .308 Winchester calibre fitted with a laminated wood stock and iron sights.

Please note:
  • It resembles a Tikka T3 CTR fitted in a laminate stock becaue it is a Tikka T3 CTR fitted in a laminate stock.
  • The intention of the manufacturers and developers is that it look like a Tikka T3 CTR fitted in a laminate stock.
  • If any myopic FBUK member thiks that it resembles a Ruger Scout Rifle this is down to two factors: the myopia of the indiviual member; and the fact that they can't tell a Tikka T3 from a Ruger 77.
  • There is no intention by OY Sako, Colt Canada or The Canadian Government for this rifle to resemble anything other than a Tikka T3 CTR fitted in a laminate stock.
  • This rifle actually is a Tikka T3 CTR fitted in a laminate stock
  • The type and cost of the magazines is totally irrelevant because they will be issued with the rifle.
Is there any chance we can get this tread back on topic, i.e. the rifle under discussion and its use - Not what it isn't.

I must admit I do like the coat of arms on the butt.

As I understand it reading through the articles this is the configuration of the trials rifles and is representative of but not entirely like the final product and further changes will be made.

Bit odd for it to come with a target foresight, given its intended use, no?

Back up iron sights could come in useful if the scope gets damaged

+1. Purely from an aesthetic & very subjective personal point of view, this is about the only thing pleasing to my eyes. I actually find this rifle butt ugly.
Unless it is a photographic light effect, they even manage to produce a normally good looking pelican in vomit green, probably to match the p*** shade of yellow of the stock ?
:bad:

cost of the magazines is totally irrelevant because they will be issued with the rifle.
it is to the Canadian tax payers ;)

Not odd at all considering the RFP the Canadian's put out, this rifle is a replacement for the No.4 and Iron Sights are the primary sight.

The Canadian's have asked for a shrouded foresight similar in configuration to the rifle that is being replaced. The addition of a rail is purely a nod towards giving the ability of adding an optic. Noticed the boxed example has no scope just a space for one.

Funny how taste is subjective, I really like the stock colour and all!

It isn't a target foresight.

As per the OP:
b) Protected front and rear iron sights.
