A barrel can be a barrel without a chamber, if it is threaded or chambered a rifled tube becomes a barrel. Many parts are controlled like the rifle itself, barrelled actions and sound moderators to name just three (these are listed on the FAC) and then there are other controlled parts like bolts, flash hiders, fire control parts, firing pins, etc. that don't get listed on the FAC but you should have one to buy or own these spare parts (I know some forces list spare bolts and you can buy these 'spares' as part of de-acts without any license - just goes to show there doesn't seem to be any joined up gun laws).huntervixen wrote:
Putting it in basic terms, Restricted Licensed parts are pressure baring component parts that require proofing, so bolts, carriers, barrels receivers etc.
Then there are gray area parts like firing pins, not proofed, but not a good idea to have them laying about the house either!
A barrel only becomes restricted when a chamber has been cut, prior to that, it's simply a rifled pipe!! (unless that rule has now been changed)??
