Just a query - what is the total length of the 20" T3 in the X-ray chassis? I need a new case and want to make sure I get one long enough for when I get the Tikka re-stocked!
I'll check tonight when I'm home from work mate.

Hey matey, just measured up and the overall length from buttpad to muzzle is 39" give or take (tried to keep tape centred along bore). This is with the standard limbsaver pad and no additional length of pull spacers. See attached pic of the rifle with an uncle mikes case and a buffalo river case. The rifle fits in both and zips up easily without putting any pressure on the zips. Sorry for crappy phone camera. ImageImageImageImage

Cheers Welsh, many thanks for the measurement. No worries about fitting it in my cabinet, and I can merrily shop for a drag bag now!

Which is all quite lucky, seeing as I've already put a deposit on an X-Ray stock (in Sako green) this afternoon! ;)

No problem. You won't be disappointed! What calibre do you have it in? PS I still need to write up a range report for this. Short version: if I had another Tikka I would definitely buy another one of these stocks! When I installed the stock I followed all instructions and torqued & greased the action screws as described. I got great results from this.

Glad to hear it! I had a good conversation with Gary @ March yesterday and he said that he'd underestimated the popularity of the X-Ray for Tikkas, thinking that there'd be more Remmy owners going for it instead. I think the dream of getting into TRG territory at a considerably lower price point with this setup will draw in a lot of T3 owners...

Mine's in .308 and will usually get to play out to 600m. Went for it after shooting a friend's (Jordanian spec) TRG a while ago, and being seriously impressed (but not having the depth of pocket to get one myself!).

I think at the price they're going for most remington owners will go for the AICS. Since these aren't available for Tikka's this is the next best option I expect. I was interested in the whiskey 3 but at almost a thousand pound I couldn't afford it and to be honest the x ray has almost all the features I wanted anyway.

Gary at March scopes was very helpful with me and offered accuracy international magazines for £50 for the 5 round 308. He also has single shot sleds that fit as AI mags but let's you shoot long rounds if you load a close to the lands and the rounds don't fit in the mag. However I can single load from the 5 shot mag with no issues so I didn't get one. Ps you might have to alter the feed lips on the magazine as mine were quite long and you could feel some bolt drag when feeding.

If you don't mind me asking how much was the Tac 21 chassis, and where did you get it ?
I am Toying with either one of these or the x ray or Whisky job from March but I understand they are still about 4 weeks away.

I bought mine direct from MDT and imported from Canada via Germany. I reckon all in including the stock it cost me around £850 incl. charges.

Here's how she looks now with Atlas V8 LW17 bipod and TET Spartan III reflex Suppressor/Tac-brake.
