£5000????, thats far too expensive for the Proletariat.I'll stick with my straight pull AKM rather than pay that for a lever release Imperialistic titbit.

I could go for a lever release Dragunov though! ussrflag

I would crawl over broken glass for a MARS action Dragunov ussrflag

Very true, a MARS action would be better......no extra external levers that way.

Poor old Pete, I bet he wishes he never bothered making a video now!

Can anyone confirm if the side cocking handle is on the production rifle or not, I really can't see any reason for it on this Firearm ?

Has to be said it does seem a little clunky in firing, the MARS approach does seem more refined to me, but I am still not really sure what to make of these "interrupted semi automatic rifles"!

I will reserve my judgment until I get to play with one....

Rays Dragunov idea is very appealing, both these action types would be more appealing to me upgunned to 7.62x51 or 7.62x54r..... AR, Fal or Dragunov platform perhaps...

Just checked the website today and the gun builder has the lever release 223 as a configurable purchase:

http://www.southern-gun.co.uk/Gun-Builder

Managed to build something for about 4 grand minus the forend (don't like the options) and minus sights (put my own scope on).

Very nearly ordered one but just couldn't bring myself to do it.

Those must be the most expensive Magpul parts in the world! A MOE grip for £43- he's having a flippin' giraffe.

Haha yeah - even MidwayUK were cheaper!

The one I specc'ed did away with pistol grip, forend, buffer tube and stock (got enough bits kicking around for that).

Still can't bring myself to do it, but fair play to Bob - you want a non straight pull AR15 that's still section 1 - then he's got the market all to himself. Though I do wonder if Caledonians VZ58 MARS has helped chip a grand off the base price (SGC lever release was £5k when I spoke to him last year)?

Wonder if I can persuade my club to get one ;-)

I have a couple of SGC rifles and have been very pleased with the quality. I did buy one of the V22s new and it nudged around £900 back in 2007 or thereabouts. It was a lot for a .22 but I could reasonably accommodate / justify it at the time. £5K is a rather tall order - you could buy a fair number of lovely less exotic rifles for that. I'll probably do what I did when I purchased my Speedmaster - wait for a richer pocket to buy it, let them get the novelty out of their system and buy it secondhand for a fair bit less. :)

I have a feeling with these that the second hand price won't be too much less, given initial supply will be fairly limited as it's a niche area, few guns will hit the market and there will be a demand for them second hand keeping prices buoyant. Just standard straight pulls seem to do well at holding their value so I'd expect these to retain their value well.
