SA80/L85 Butt pad, a question for those who have served

Wait, civvies can own L98s?

I seem to remember it's a convoluted story (that's slightly suspect, IMHO) about a school CCF that somehow ended up actually owning their L98s and these are the ones that appear on the open market.

Since the L98 went to the A2 (semi auto) version they're probably the only ones that'll ever come on the market. Hence the bonkers prices.

Israel got the Tavor, we are keeping the SA80A2. The ergonomics aren't amazing, but they work.
And there is something to be said for a rifle that has a decent length barrel while being short overall

Of course it all goes back to the EM-2 of the late forties/early fifties ... ... ...

Then there's the FAMAS, Steyr AUG, the Chinese AK-based thingy, several Bullpup sniper rifles and even Bullpup sporters - Crapahute, Sommer & Ockenfuß, Pfeiffer etc.
