Nice, very nice.

Your rifle looks like a Bulgarian Police issues carbine due to the height of the foresight. Could you do me a favour and measure it for me? I did some testing with mine and came up with a height increase of 1.6mm to bring it to a 200m zero and would like to compare it with yours, thanks.

Spot on re-the Bulgarian police carbine, probably why it's in such good nick.
I wouldn't be surprised if it had spent most of its time stood in a rack in the armoury.

I just took a measurement of the fore-sight and it comes out at 12.5mm from the top of the barrel to the highest point on the fore-sight blade.

Cheers, thanks for that. I'll check mine later but I think it'll be about right for my needs.

Mine is in surprisingly good nick as well but given the Bulgarian Army (and Police) during WWII did mostly anti-partisan duties in Yugoslavia and Greece I wouldn't be surprised if they saw service. Apparently after WWII the surviving M95's were issued to Ministry of Interior Control troops.

Strangely enough, mine came in at 11.5 mm after measuring it in the same fashion. After comparing the pictures below and the measurements, I think I'll base the height on what works for the rifle and ammo (Bulgarian Surplus) combination. Thanks for your help.

OOPS!, I had a another go and was a bit more precise this time, I took a second measurement with my digital callipers ,with a square across the muzzle and the top of the blade and got a reading of 11.7mm. So it looks as if both blades can be considered virtually the same height.

Got there in the end!

Just got back from the range after my first outing with the Steyr.

My load of the 205gn Lee 8x56 bullet and 23.5gn of Lovex DO60 worked well, knocking down fig 11's at 200 yards with POA plus a little Kentucky wind-age!

The trigger pull leaves a bit to be desired, best described as agricultural!

All in all, a great little rifle and one to be enjoyed, (after I have sorted out that trigger!)
