Didn't know whether to laugh or cry at that one! I'm 44 so does that put me at the top of the hill staring down into the abyss?!?

I have to echo Marks comments on the previous page, most of the older guys at my club, many of whom have gone through the pains of previous bans and restrictions seem reluctant to stick their heads above the parapet again. It's up to us youngesters(!?!) to try and get them motivated and back into the fight again.

I'm looking for volunteers to help come and run the Phoenix meeting at the end of May. One Phoenix meeting volunteer (and shooter) is worth 10,000 ticks on a web form. Imagine 10,000 people entering a shooting competition rather than ticking a box on a web form

If you have nothing positive to say about others attempts to promote shooting then don't post.

It is clear what your single string agenda is and that is your choice but do not keep negating other complementary initiatives

If you want to solicit volunteers for you event the use the competitions forum, I suspect that call without your negativity about other people would help you get people you need.

Er.... its a shooting forum - what else would I come on here to promote? I hope it perfectly clear what my agenda is in this regard.

Gun ownership so as people can legally shoot, collect, compete and enjoy firearms.

Your agenda comes over as anti gun, you seem to think that shooting is fine but don't mention the gun word.

Your head up your bottom view is well tread here but don't belittle other peoples positive activities because you don't agree with it.

You are fully entitled to your view but as I said earlier you negativity towards anyone who doesn't see the world through your narrow eyes should not be used to decry what others do to try and support the legal owning of guns in the UK.

I hope that you have read and understood my posts and not just picked selectively that which suits your anti gun stance.

Could it be that because the petition only asked for 22 rf pistols? The governments response was made easy because they looked only at 22 rf and its use in olympic sport.
If the petition was for full return of pistols of all calibres then we would have a point which they would have to find a reason to justify refusal.
That reason wouldnt be as easy as "oh, yourve got special places/times for olympic practice".

I believe that electronic petitions have no effect, just as do facebook petitions/pages etc.

What ever happened to the good old sheet of paper with a list of names on it?
It was usually welded by a forceful chap or chapess which made damn sure you signed it even if you had no idea what the petition was about. :-)

Anyone can shoot .22RF pistols in this country now and if good enough be chosen for the GB squad for Olympic and Commonwealth games events to compete. I was shooting next to a bunch of people this weekend who were competing with their perfectly legal .22RF section one pistols at Bisley on Melville range.

You are correct - They have absolutely no affect whatsoever - they actually detract due to the 'I've done my bit' effect.
