Four4islands boycotting RFDs?

I'm not fully up to speed with all the snitching and bitching between the various practical shooting organisations, but I saw the attached pic passing by on Facebook.

I don't know if the contents or the quotes are true. I know some of Four4islands are on FBUK, perhaps they could enlighten us either way?

From what I gather it all stems from a general dislike/bad feeling (hatred but that could be a bit harsh) between the people running ukpsa and four4islands. F4i was set up by ex ukpsa members and both groups promote practical shooting in the UK and from what I can tell is much more popular than ukpsa with some of the PSG matches having 80+ competitors and a couple of matches attract 120+, anyone can shoot on an f4i match, you don't need to be a member, whereas ukpsa matches attract 20-30 tops (so I am lead to believe), you have to be a member to shoot their matches as well as paying for and completing a 2 day basic course, you can't even view their forum without paying to be a member.

I gather midway sponsor matches in the ukpsa, I gather most if not all the people that run f4i are banned from ukpsa and just recently 2 high ranking competitors (one the championship winner) were suspended from ukpsa due to their involvement in promoting f4i/nra matches and recently you will have read that the NRA want to take over running ipsc matches in the UK, which ukpsa currently run so the wick has been turned up on the general bad feeling between the two groups. Most of us try to stay out of the politics as we are in it to shoot.

If you want to sell as a business on f4i you have to pay an annual subscription to pay towards running the club, so they are not in the habit of boycotting RFD's its just the fact there is history behind this one you bring up Gaz.

i heard the same as and understand this is the case as above.........its not surprising the ukpsa are headed down the pan cosidering some of the folk who run it. .....

I'm going to bite my tongue at some of the 'facts' presented here and just say that this is the first i've seen of that picture/notice and it has definitely not appeared on the UKPSA forum.

P.S. I'm glad i didn't hold my breath waiting for the NRA's announcement about the details of their running IPSC matches here which was definitely going to be made public at the end of February :roll: Can anyone enlighten me? PM if necessary.

I think it has to wait until IPSC have their AGM which isn't till June I think.

Mark, it was briefly mentioned in the Spring NRA journal, but no details other then what we already know...

And it has been on the NRA website for a while... again, no details other than they are bidding for it. (Posted on 9th Jan)

I met Peter Starley when I went to his shop once with a friend, it was a unique experience that I haven't repeated since...

I can understand the issues if there is a perceived power grab by the NRA but I would beg the question if the rival organisation predominantly made up of ex UKPSA members is now running larger competitions then things have gone wrong somewhere.

I must admin practical shooting is something I have been considering getting into, I had looked at the UKPSA website and found things to be a bit impenetrable and old boys club. I didn't know about four4islands, just had a glance at their website and I am impressed at what is offered under their membership fees. I certainly will consider them and I like their openness to new members.

Now to the other issue to who should be the representative governing body in the UK, UKPSA or NRA. Whilst I usually hold a fair amount of irritation with the NRA I have to say that bringing the governing of various shooting disciplines under one roof has a degree of logic and considering Bisley already runs Civilian Service Rifle courses that to my uneducated eye appears to be a spiritual partner with practical shooting it does make sense.

Maybe UKPSA needs to have a bit of a rethink before they find themselves out in the cold whilst everybody else jumps ship.

There are no membership fees required to be paid in order to particpate in f4i promoted events.

There is an optional £20 fee for insurance cover etc.

I went to a UKPSA-run level 1 comp at HTRPC the other weekend and was informed by the chairman that they are the good guys
