Re: Firearms licensing costs discussed in Parliament
That's a bit sick and offensive to be honest, also quite irrelevant!

Let's see what the response is - I'd be pretty sure that picture's in their image library tagged "firearm" or "shotgun" and at first glance it just looks like just another stock image. If they refuse to change it....!Dear Sir/Madam
With regard to the image accompanying this story, your picture editor appears not to have looked closely enough at the text on the shotgun certificate. This is a picture of Derrick Bird's SGC. As you may be aware, Bird murdered a large number of people using the shotguns detailed on that certificate.
I suggest this image is highly inappropriate and offensive, both to members of the shooting public and relatives of Bird's victims alike. Perhaps your picture desk would like to replace this image on this story and delete it from your library.
Kind regards,
Gaz

Picture seems to have now disappeared.
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

I logged in and left a polite and reasoned alternative view. It lasted 30 seconds.christel wrote:Yes, picture has disappeared.

No, Lizzy. The government, recognising that licensing of firearms is an imposition on a minority for the benefit of the public, declined to dump the full cost on the minority disadvantaged by the process. Given that firearms licensing is not done for the benefit of the licensed, it is open to argument that the entire cost should fall on the public purse.

The OP's previous posts make for interesting reading as well, she has certainly nailed her colours to the mast.

Tried giving her a "thumbs down" rating. Registered her comment with a "-1", which was reset to zero when you go back to the page!

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

To be fair, it's a differential counter (she had +3 when I voted which took it to +2).Sim G wrote:Tried giving her a "thumbs down" rating. Registered her comment with a "-1", which was reset to zero when you go back to the page!
