Interesting thread. Prompted me to go back through my old old targets for a look. The 2156 does work for me, though I stopped working with it in favour of better-BC bullets. Going to go back to it I think - it's reliable and it's cheap...

I wholeheartedly agree with the assessment of the performance of the Sierra 2156 by Gaz and others. It's a fine performing bullet; last season I shot Berger 155.5s and this season I've been shooting 2156s. Although my sample sizes aren't large enough to draw any firm conclusions, the 2156s seem to group just as well as the Bergers did.

Given my experience so far, I don't think I'll be going back to the Bergers for TR shooting, as they're not worth the expense and difficulty with regards to obtaining them. I may invest in them for major matches like the WLRC and practice shoots for the WLRC, but for national/provincial/club level shoots, I'll be sticking with the 2156s.

Most of us have; I think you'll find the philosophy behind TR140 pricing is not what you think.

..
Not fussed, I use it for plinking as my usual loads are N140 or IMR4895

What are people's views on lapua screna 155 vs smk 2156?

Need to develop a new load since I can't get any varget so thought I might change bullet Aswell to something a bit better suited to long range.

As much as I am a fan of the 155 Scenar the SMK #2156 is a very capable bullet and it is worth sorting the SMK's to get the very best out of them.
