What ever you decide to do make sure its solid ( as I know from the discussions you are trying to ) , two of our club members have had FLO 's hanging on the doors to try to move the cAbinet and from descriptions they were not small gents !!
Re: Attaching gun cabinets to timber frame?
I remember when I first applied for my FAC years back, the FO was a "larger gentleman"......he attacked my cabinet like it had personally insulted his mother!
After some vigorous pushing and pulling (and shouldering) he declared it good to go!
One point though, my builder mate mentioned the other day....don't use Rawl bolts in a natural stone wall for securing a cabinet, they slowly crack the stone via applied constant pressure over a few months and generally become loose!

Or a skinny bloke with a drill and a nibbler, then he can pick and choose what he wants to take.huntervixen wrote:You can only take sensible precautions within reason, after all if a couple of burly blokes with bars and levers are determined to break in and remove your cabinet, then they will given enough time !

They are cabinets, not safes -- BS7558 only requires 2mm mild steel walls. HO guidelines has drawn attention to this distinction in the past, which is why HOG places a lot of emphasis on layers of security.
