Reviving this thread as I have just "found" a 500 box of .264 cal 155 SMKs in the cupboard.

Although very long, 1.45" they have a relatively short ogive at 0.57" so they "might" stabilize at sub-sonic velocity if the barrel twist is fast enough.

According to the Berger twist rate stability calculator, an 8.5" twist would be very marginal, but anything faster should be OK, at least at short range.

If you would like some samples to try, just let me know, as I have no use for them, apart from running in new barrels!
