I am inclined to agree with Lapua338 on this, I still remember shooting a CSR club comp alongside someone with a fully slicked and tricked LanTac AR clone with competition trigger and precision open sights adjustable for windage etc. I had to aim off with my .303 P14 finished as it came out of the factory 90 plus years ago. He beat me by more points than I care to remember.

His rifle was a stunning piece of equipment however quite how it could be the civilian version of a military item is beyond me, yes it sort of looked similar but that was all...

Ovenpaa, if this was the case then the organisers of the match should have made classifications to suit the variety (and age) of the rifles entered?

Most of our matches are sell outs and there'll be around 50 entrants on the 6th, so you can whole heartedly voice your opinion to our fraudulent masses.
You an even bring Ovenpaa with you, and he can even bring his clubmate with the Lantac rifle........coz I'm sure most of us would love to see one of these mythical beasts :lol: Bradders

Actually the bit that really hacked me of was the rifle was fitted with a 'scope and the shooter said to remove it would upset his zero so he would use the iron sights through the aperture under the rings... No matter as it was a club event and I was there to have fun albeit I am very competitive when it comes to shooting.

It was a mish mash of rifles and they even let one person shoot with PH target sights, and another rested his rifle on the edge of the pit. I did my utmost to shoot the competition in the spirit of the event so P14, open sights, unsupported with service sling.

Service Rifle is not a class I tend to shoot and when I do it is/was only at club level, personally I feel it would have been better to split it into two groups, something like Pre-45 Action 'as issued' rifles and then something for the more modern rifles. Part of the comp was 10 shots kneeling in 60 seconds with a compulsory reload/magazine change. I borrowed a polished and nickel plated stripper clip which made a huge difference so I had seized any advantage I could, some of the others failed to get the 10 aimed shots in the allocated time.

Long Range Practises

Stage 1 - The 500x Harassing Fire
o Type of practice - Rapid
o Distance – 500 yards
o Position - Prone
o Rounds – 2 sighting shots and 10 to count
o Targets – Triple Fig11
o Scoring - 5 & 4 on the middle target, 2 on the outer targets
o Procedure
1. After two sighting shots have been fired and spotting discs shown,
competitors are to apply safety catches and stand up
2. The targets will make one appearance of 60 seconds
3. On appearance of the targets, competitors are to adopt the prone position
and fire ten rounds

Stage 2 - The 500x – 300x Rundown
o Type of practice – Rapid with F&M
o Distance – 500x, 400x & 300x
o Position – Prone
o Rounds - 10 to count
o Targets – Triple Fig11 at 500x & 400x. Fig12 at 300x
o Scoring - 5 & 4 on the middle Fig11 target and Fig12, 2 on the outer targets
o Procedure
1. Competitors are to be in the standing ready alert position with rifles loaded
2. On appearance of the targets at 500x for fifteen seconds, competitors are
to adopt the prone position and fire two rounds
3. There will then be a 1 second ‘flash’ of the targets which will be the signal
for competitors to move to the 400x firing point
4. There will be two 6 second exposures of the Triple Fig11 target
5. Competitors are to fire two rounds per exposure
6. There will then be a 1 second ‘flash’ of the targets which will be the signal
for competitors to move to the 300x firing point
7. There will be two 6 second exposures of the Fig12 target
8. Competitors are to fire two rounds per exposure
9. Competitors will have 30 seconds to move between firing points
10. Safety Catches will be applied during all movement
Stage 3 - The 300x Wantage
o Type of practice - Snap
o Distance – 300 yards
o Position – Prone
o Rounds - 10 to count
o Targets – One Fig12
o Scoring - 5 & 4
o Procedure
1. Competitors are to be in the prone position with rifles loaded
2. Targets will make ten appearances of three seconds over a frontage of 6ft
3. On appearance of the targets, competitors are to fire one round per
exposure

Stage 4 - The 300x Sitting
o Type of practice - Snap
o Distance – 300 yards
o Position - Sitting
o Rounds – 10 to count
o Targets – Fig12
o Scoring – 5 & 4
o Procedure
1. Competitors are to be in the sitting position with rifles loaded
2. The targets will make five appearances of 6 seconds
3. Competitors are to fire two rounds per exposure

Short Range Practises
Stage 1 - The 200x Bisley Bullet
o Type of practice - Snap
o Distance – 200 yards
o Position - Prone
o Rounds – 2 sighting shots and 10 to count
o Targets – Fig14 Window
o Scoring – 5, 4 & 3
o Procedure
1. After completion of sighting shots, competitors are to make ready with ten
rounds
2. Competitors are to be in the prone position with rifles loaded
3. The targets will make ten appearances of 3 seconds over a frontage of 6ft
4. Competitors will fire one round per exposure
Stage 2 - The 200x Sitting
o Type of practice - Rapid
o Distance – 200 yards
o Position - Sitting
o Rounds - 10 to count
o Targets – Two Fig11
o Scoring 5 & 4
o Procedure
1. Competitors are to standing ready alert position with rifles loaded
2. On appearance of the targets for 40 seconds, competitors are to adopt the
sitting position and fire 5 rounds at each target

Stage 3 - The 100x Standing
o Type of practice - Snap
o Distance – 100 yards
o Position - Standing followed by kneeling or squatting
o Rounds –10 to count
o Targets – One Fig12c
o Scoring - 5 & 4
o Procedure
1. Competitors are to be in the standing ready alert position with rifles loaded
2. The target will make five double exposures of ‘3 seconds up, 2 seconds
down, 3 seconds up' at irregular intervals over a period of 2 minutes
The first shot at each double exposure is to be fired from the standing position and the second
shot from either the sitting or squatting positions. Firers must return to the standing ready alert
position after each double exposure

Stage 4 - The 100x
o Type of practice - Snap
o Distance – 100 yards
o Position – Kneeling and standing
o Rounds – 10 to count
o Targets – Fig12c
o Scoring – 5 & 4
o Procedure
1. Competitors are to be in the standing ready alert position with rifles loaded
2. Targets will make five appearances of six seconds.
3. On the first appearance of the targets, competitors are to adopt the
kneeling position and fire two rounds
4. Competitors are to remain in the kneeling position
5. On the second appearance of the targets, competitors are to adopt the
standing position and fire two rounds.
6. Competitors are to remain in the standing ready alert position
7. On subsequent appearances of the targets, competitors are to repeat this
sequence until all ten rounds have been fired
