Recurve bows are only allowed in the Olympics.

I should have qualified that statement - In Australia they're allowed for small game hunting. Broadheads are a bit messy on rabbits!

used to be into archery ..
Had a hoyt eclipse recurve ... carbon fibre limbs, easton aac carbon arrows and all the other kit ... got bored with it (doesnt go BANG ! ) and sold it all on Ebay for about £400 if i remember correctly ..

I joined a club back in 1996. They expected you to do I think it was 6 training days but working shifts it was difficult to attend. I ended up with the kids mainly and boy, were some of them good. Once the training was done and membership paid for you could go to the ground any time you wanted to. Trouble was nobody really explained what happened once you joined. They obviously attended other clubs but didn't ask you to join them, bit cliquey. Never rejoined, shame as I enjoyed it.

I still have all my beginners kit. Maybe I should sell it.

Interestingly enough the distance record for a recurve bow is over 1200 metres ... And would really ruin your day if it hit you even from that range !!!

Well, I did it. I joined the local club. First shoot's on Sunday. Looking forward to loosin' some ash at Frenchmen... 'cos that's what an archery club's about... right?

Oh indeedy, ooman, indeedy ! We quite fancy takin' our yew stick and a few cloth yards o' birch over to France one day and letting loose on the fields of Agincourt, Crecy, Poitiers and sundry other places in homage to our forefathers...
