and i fully appreciate it...glad to hear that some people get on with them and i guess that its the ones that don't get flagged up!

thing is, i'm pretty sure that all the rifles ive bought from new (marlin, etc) have always made similar caveats about handloads...and in my experience - as long as i do my bit - handloads are always more consistent than factory, and by virtue of that should be better...im pretty obsessive about keeping my brass tiptop and double check my loads throughout the process (i guess thats im so slow at it!)

the thing that I'm really p*ssed about is the rfd sold me the bullets (nearly said heads ) when it is clear that they will void the warranty! those will be going back - but not the rifle! not yet anyway

I have a 9mm lrr glock mag and yes had a little feeding issue with it first time out but it took 20min to fix, but all the latest ones have had the mod I did to mine done by Bob.
several forum members on here have shot mine and it has never failed to fire or feedin fact it had a good outing sunday at 100m at BR. I only use S&B & fiocchi at the moment but may reload one day.
Stick with FMJ or TMJ for reloading and you should be able to crimp firm enough hold the bullet like factory made ammo.
in the pre ban day I reloaded TMJ using GM3 powder it was clean and cheep it is only about £36 kg so at ITL prices for primers and bullets about £12 per 100.

Just enjoy the rifle

I would wager there are plenty of 9mm lever release rifles out there happily being fed 'properly made' reloads.

thanks guys...i have been getting similar advice from the guys who i shoot with, who previously reload 9mm for handguns. (and rolled around laughing when i told them what the manual said about reloading )

Well, i used the rifle for the first time last night and i have to say how impressed i am with it...managed to get through a few mags, before the older boys grabbed it off me and blatted away as well...and they confirmed my excitement!

shot 200 rounds with 3 misfeeds. misfeeds coming late in the day and with the extra mags i bought with it, so will have to check out what mod has been done to the original that it came with.

its very accurate (once i ran a few mags through it)...but when you give it a good look over, its not surprising really, as i think its an incredibly well made rig...not sure about the 'bisley' silver moly type grease thats all over it though!

it does need a brass catcher as well, if one was intending to reload - as it spits it out everywhere!

the barrel thread cover repeatedly came loose after a few rounds, so i whipped that off (hopefully a sound mod will stay firm)

the actual lever release operator catch could do with an extension IMO (maybe an after market option), to make it more natural to 'flip the switch' - and will improve cycling time (which is fast anyway).

definitely needs 'hotter' loads IMO to keep it cycling and the barrel seems to like the heavier bullets....i'll investigate the ITL option (thanks for the link)

[side note: 9mm is such a nice round to shoot clapclap ]

it had a trigger job, which is ok - crisp, single stage - and certainly better than most standard or just above units ive used before...probably appropriate for this type of CQB rifle...i guess ive been spoilt with my match rifle trigger units!

ive ordered a pletora of goodies from midway, so it wont be so black soon and will have opensights, which is a firm favourite of mine.

on a side note, i've always had a good experience with SGC products - and recently let go my v22 (got some spare mags up for grabs if anyone is interested?)...and the man in charge has always been straight forward and fair to me - so i guess I'm grateful in that respect...i just love ARs and happy to buy something that is homegrown IMO hopefully it wont play up...watch this space

I am glad that you have had a good first date with the 9mm.

Should you put 9mm in the search engine of this Forum you will see a couple of items that I have posted in regards to my experiences with my gun, which is the older UZI mag style.

I have spoken to Bob regards re loading and he has told me that the best results are from 115 gn projectiles. I have got mine from ITL as they are local to me and are doing OK accuracy wise. I know nothing about twist rates and 9mm's but I wonder if going to those heavy weights used in sub sonic rounds you mention will work OK in the standard barrels.

I also had trouble with the thread protector coming lose and now have a fake can on the end, but one that can have the baffles added should I get permission on my FAC. I got mine from one less Charlie who is on this forum, You can also read and see pictures that I have posted previously.

Cheers DM - i've seen ITL at the shows and wanted to go have a look at what they have down there (really like the m1 they offer!)

good tips on 9mm reload and i'll look into the twist rate...i may get a 100 of the 130s and see how they fair anyway. thought though, from the other comments, that 115 may not have enough bullet for the brass to bite onto (if you know what i mean) and therefore something longer like 124 maybe better suited, so the bullets (heads) dont get striped away on a misfeed?...anyway, i thought that SGC didnt recommend reloads?

glad you get on well with yours - good to read that others are having good experiences as well...must admit i was wearing glasses all the time and was very pensive for the first couple of mags! But after that i 'man'd up' and throughly enjoy using it

Glad it went well it will losen up after a few hundred rounds. You may need to leave the mags loaded for a few days (empty cases will do) to soften th e springs as they are very stiff when new. You can also debur the glock mags as they can have bits of plastic under and round the feed lips from moulding.
